2. Institute for Transfusion Medicine

Full blood supply for the Leipzig University Hospital and hospitals as well as doctor’s practices in the region, blood group/infection and transfusion serology for blood donors and patients, round-the-clock consultation service and production of special preparations – the Institute for Transfusion Medicine at the UKL is, both externally and internally, a long-standing, efficient medical partner. It has approvals for blood products, stem cell and tissue preparations as well as cellular immunotherapeutics granted by the higher German federal authority (Paul Ehrlich Institute in Langen). In 2018, we celebrated our 85th anniversary as the oldest blood donation service in Germany and have been running our “Donate Blood + Plasma at the Leipziger Original” campaign ever since. aware of the need to donate blood at the UKL.
